Jersey: voor restaurants en afhaalrestaurants
Klaar voor de voedselinspectie. Elke dag.
Jersey is not the UK: the app follows the Food (Jersey) Law 2023, Environmental Health inspects, and the result is an Eat Safe rating of 0, 2, 3, 4 or 5 stars.

Uw inspectie
Environmental Health (Government of Jersey) inspects food businesses. How often depends on the risk of the business.
After a visit the officer tells you what to put right and by when. Serious problems can lead to a notice, a stop to part or all of the business, or court. The research did not confirm the fine amounts, so Chef Hygiene names none.
Hygiënebeoordeling
Eat Safe gives 0, 2, 3, 4 or 5 stars (there is no 1 star). The Food Safety (Eat Safe Rating) (Jersey) Order 2017 requires the sticker at customer entrances. Whether this changes under the Food (Jersey) Law 2023 is not yet confirmed: ask Environmental Health.
“Wet” is een bindende regel. “Officiële richtlijnen” zijn geen wet, maar inspecteurs verwachten ze wel. “Chef Hygiene standaardwaarde” is een waarde die de app controleert wanneer er geen regel is die een getal voorschrijft.
Temperaturen
- WetChilled food at 8°C or colder, as in the UK. Chef Hygiene checks the fridge against 5°C, its own safer target. The research treats 8°C as the rule, but did not read the new Food (Jersey) Regulations.
- WetHot food at 63°C or hotter, as in the UK. Chef Hygiene sets no grace time below 63°C: reheat at once or throw away.
- Officiële richtlijnenCool cooked food as quickly as possible: into the fridge within 90 minutes is good practice.
- Officiële richtlijnenCooking and reheating: 75°C in the core (or 70°C for 2 minutes). This is good practice.
- Officiële richtlijnenFrozen food: −18°C or colder. This is standard practice.
Personeel, opleiding en gezondheid
- Officiële richtlijnenFood handlers should be supervised and trained in food hygiene for their work. This is good practice, and the Eat Safe audit checks it. Jersey sets no certificate renewal the research could confirm.
- Officiële richtlijnenStaff with diarrhoea or vomiting stay away from food until 48 hours after the symptoms stop. This is UK-style guidance.
Allergenen
- Officiële richtlijnenGive allergen information for the 14 allergens for food that is not prepacked. The new Food (Jersey) Regulations cover allergen information; the research did not read their exact words.
- Chef Hygiene standaardThe research did not confirm whether Jersey needs this in writing. Chef Hygiene checks for a written list per dish and an “ask staff” sign. This is the app’s default.
Brandveiligheidscontroles
- Chef Hygiene standaardThe research found no Jersey fire or electrical interval it could confirm. The checks below are good practice, not Jersey law. They can be edited. In a fire, call 999 or 112.
- Chef Hygiene standaardExtinguishers: Chef Hygiene suggests a yearly service by a competent person. Fire alarm: every 6 months. Emergency lighting: yearly.
- Chef Hygiene standaardElectrics: Chef Hygiene suggests a test every 5 years. Gas: a yearly check.
- WetAll gas work must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer, required in Jersey since 1 January 2022 (Health and Safety Inspectorate, Approved Code of Practice 13).
Records
- Officiële richtlijnenA food safety system based on HACCP, with daily records. The Eat Safe audit checks it.
- WetRegister your food business with Environmental Health before you open. The new Food (Jersey) Regulations bring a food business licence; its start date is not yet confirmed, so check gov.je.
- Chef Hygiene standaardChef Hygiene asks for fridge checks twice a day.
